2020. The Death Race provides entertainment and population control in United States corporations that are overcrowded and have 99.993 percent unemployment rates. Frankenstein, the current winner of the Death Race, stretches from Old New York to New LA. Frankenstein is fought by Jed Perfectus, Minerva Jefferson, Tammy the Terrorist, and ABE. You can watch the race via your own virtual reality proxy. An interview with Frankenstein and instructions to let his opponents pass by him are ignored by him.
Rebels headed by former network producer Alexis Hamilton install traps around the sector as the racers sprint along the East Coast. When Tammy and Minerva kidnap each other's cult members for kills, they establish a bitter rivalry. ABE malfunctions after falling into a rebel trap, killing its surrogate and abandoning the race to find its purpose in life. Hamilton instructs Annie, who is revealed to be her spy, to murder Frankenstein at the first checkpoint. Her effort to attract him fails since he is just interested on winning the race. The Chairman says that because of his longevity, Frankenstein has become a burden, but Perfectus will inspire his dedicated supporters to die at his hands.
On Day 2 of the race, the drivers go through the country's heartland, which is notorious for its gun-toting people. Tammy sends a suicide bomber to murder Minerva's proxy, Chi Wapp. On another road, Frankenstein takes a shortcut, but his automobile becomes stuck in a cornfield. While Annie is away, Frankenstein fights a gang of Resistance ninjas in order to collect extra points. Annie confesses to being a rebel and tries to recruit Frankenstein at the second checkpoint. Frankenstein, who is apolitical, insults both the rebels and the government, repeating his goal to win the race. Minerva explains to Annie at a bar that she is an educated academic who survives by playing a clichéd hip-hop persona. When Annie returns to Frankenstein's chamber, she protects him from Perfectus, who is envious of Frankenstein's fame and sexual attraction. Meanwhile, Hamilton and the Chairman are revealed to be working together behind the scenes.
On Day 3 of the race, the government gives the drivers "approved" routes to take so they can avoid attacks from the Resistance. Frankenstein's right arm was hurt when he fought Perfectus, so Annie helps him change gears. Minerva tries to catch Tammy, but Tammy's suicide attempt makes Minerva fall off a cliff. Tammy is happy about Minerva's death until an ABE comes back, hits her against the wall, and then blows itself up. This kills them both. Hamilton and her rebels are killed by Frankenstein and Annie, while Perfectus takes a secret path to the finish line. Both cars try to get ahead until Perfectus loses control of his and crashes into the control booth for virtual reality. Before crossing the finish line, Frankenstein sends a message to his fans suggesting that the Chairman himself is worth 1,000 points. After Frankenstein kills the Chairman, the crowd cheers. He then tells them to stop living in a virtual world and start their own Death Race. As the country falls into violent chaos, Frankenstein and Annie watch from a distance and suggest that they should repopulate the country after the chaos has stopped.

How was Death Race 2050 created?
An Italian journalist told Corman that The Hunger Games resembled Death Race 2000 during an interview. Corman called Universal Pictures, who created the current version, to bring back the original's dark humor. Corman told them, "You did well, but you removed the pedestrian killings and broken-society themes."
Production started as Corman was nearing the end of his career and at a pivotal time in American politics, in the 2016 presidential election year. One of America's most well-known corporate leaders is featured in this film. It's possible that Trump's hairstyle resembles the president's, but "I do not want to go too deep into that since Trump will come and go, and the film will endure."

The Making of 2050, The Look of 2050, and Cars! were released on DVD and DVD/Blu-ray in the United States, along with three making-of documentaries. Cars, cars, cars! On March 20, 2017, it was released in the United Kingdom.
